Anthony “Tony” Slosar

Lab Manager, security and blocking 7 October 2026

An unknown device is blocked in seven seconds

The lab blocks any device it does not know and keeps WiFi guests off the private network, and Tony lets a device in with one button on his phone.

  • In a test on 7 October 2026, a device that does not exist was seen in one second, blocked in seven and reported to Tony's phone in eight.
  • A block is proven by the firewall's packet counters, never by a failed ping, and only the lab's main machine may change the firewall.
  • Nine credentials are listed without their values, a sweep of every home folder fails on any it cannot explain, and none is ever backed up in plain text.

Sixteen security checks and nineteen firewall checks hold this every hour, from a malware scan to file integrity.

A device the lab does not know is blocked within seconds The firewall reports a new device to the control host within about one second, whether it takes an address or uses a fixed one. The control host compares it with the 17 entries of the device registry: an unknown device on the wired or television network is put in the firewall's block list within about seven seconds and read back, and a device on the WiFi is a guest with internet access only. The owner's phone receives one message with an ALLOW button within about eight seconds. The firewall's packet counters prove the block, and a self-test sends a device that does not exist through the whole path. Measured on 2026-10-07 and 2026-10-08. 01 SIGHTING 1 s the firewall reports it a new address, or a new device on a known address 02 REGISTRY 17 registered devices unknown, wired: blocked unknown, WiFi: a guest with internet only 03 BLOCK 7 s in the firewall's list written through its interface, then read back before reporting 04 THE OWNER'S PHONE 8 s one message, one ALLOW button The proof is the firewall's packet counters, never a failed ping, and a self-test sends a device that does not exist through the whole path.
